Babs and Bill on stage with a Chaplin: 40th Anniversary Chaplin Award to Barbra Streisand

On April 22 political powerhouse Bill Clinton will present entertainment powerhouse Barbra Streisand with the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s 40th Anniversary Chaplin Award.  An annual fundraiser for the Film Society, The Chaplin Award honors filmmakers whose work and achievement in the industry distinguishes them and their contribution to the art of film. Babs will join a list of past honorees that include: Laurence Olivier, Martin Scorsese, Meryl Streep, Alfred Hitchcock, James Stewart, Bettie Davis, Federico Fellini, and of course, the award’s first recipient, Charlie Chaplin.

In 1968 Barbra Streisand belted her way into film history when she appeared in the Broadway to screen musical Funny Girl for which she won the Oscar for best actress (tied with Katherine Hepburn). Forty-five years later, nineteen films, eight Grammys, five Emmys, five Golden Globes, another Oscar—oy, that’s a lot of gold—and she’s still going strong! Just last  October, she released the CD, Release Me, which became her 32nd top ten album on the Billboard charts, and in December she starred opposite Seth Rogan in the comedy The Guilt Trip.

After a long list of star-studded presentations and performances, the evening will conclude with Ms. Streisand receiving her award from her old friend, and our former president, Bill Clinton.
