Nominated for best actress at this year’s 85th Academy Awards are Jessica Chastain as a CIA operative hunting bin Laden in Zero Dark Thirty; Jennifer Lawrence as a distrubed young widow struggling to heal in Silver Linings Playbook; Riva as an ailing woman tended by her husband in Amour; Quvenzhane Wallis as a fearless girl on the Louisiana delta in Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Naomi Watts as a mother caught in a devastating tsunami in The Impossible.
Age had no limits for this years best actress nominations with Riva the oldest nominee ever in the category at 85, while Wallis is the youngest ever at 9.
Now of all the nominees, Jennifer Lawrence‘s chances of winning the best actress at the Academy Awards just got a bit brighter, after all the actress took home the award for Best Actress in a Film at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards and Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her work in Silver Linings Playbook. Granted that doesn’t mean much to us here at MoviefiedNYC, the only votes that matter to us are yours!
