New York: Night and Day
Director Philip Stockton delivers something in his brilliant, short film New York: Night and Day that I’ve never seen before, footage of the same locations shot at day and night, seamlessly sharing the same frame. I feel like I have found my natural habitat: morning person and night owl rolled into one. This surreal and beautiful world makes me long for a place that I can only hope exists somewhere, home. – MD
New York: Night and Day is a combination of non-traditional video time-lapse and animation.
I filmed day and night scenes from around New York City and combined them back into single sequences using rotoscoping techniques. The piece explores the relationships between night and day, by compositing scenes shot in the same location over a time period ranging from four to eight hours. I hope you enjoy it. – Created By: Philip Stockton, Music By: Noel Heroux
