This year at the Rubin Museum of Art the Cabaret Cinema, running from May-August 2015, is focusing on the role of masks in cinema. The series of films being shown throughout the summer all relate back to the Becoming Another: The Power of Masks exhibition. The Rubin Museum describes the exhibition as one that “illuminates the common threads of distinct differences in mask traditions”. A prominent guest speaker who discusses the movies relation to the exhibit introduces most of the films. Some of the guests this year include, mask designer Max Dana, neuroscientist Peter Mende-Siedlecki, and costume designer Fabio Toblini. This years line up began on Friday May 29 with a screening of Le Plaisir and finishes August 28 with To Catch a Thief.
