The 20th Anniversary of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema opened Friday night as the Film Society of Lincoln Center and UniFrance films’ celebrated the annual showcase of the best in contemporary French film, with screening at the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the IFC Center, and BAMcinématek, March 6-15.
The 2015 edition returns with another program of features and shorts that exemplify today’s most innovative French artistry by burgeoning talents and avowed masters alike. The lineup—which consists of twenty-two feature films and four short films making their New York, U.S., or North American premieres—demonstrates that the landscape of French cinema has never been more fertile, and the voices issuing from it never more diverse. This anniversary year also marks a special acknowledgment in support of French cinema with the appointment of two festival Co-Chairs, Nathalie Baye and Martin Scorsese.
