Last May Bennett Miller ( Capote, Moneyball) left the Cannes film festival with a best director win for Foxcatcher. Since then Foxcatchers awards prospects have been dodgy at best. Though having scored nominations for Mark Ruffalo (Best Supporting Actor), Steve Carell (Best Actor), Bennett Miller (Best Director) and original screenplay, it somehow missed out on Best Picture. It is rare that a film receives a best picture nomination without getting a Best Picture nod.
