Who would have thought that Lars Von Trier was a bit odd even from childhood? This animated short, Turen til Squashland… En Super Pølse Film (Trip to Squashland… A Super Sausage Film), by our favorite Danish director, created at the tender age of eleven, proves he always had a weird side. Prior to having a career as provocative and unrestrained as Von Trier’s has been (Nymphomaniac I and II, Antichrist) he was just an innocent making stop-motion films about anthropomorphic sausages riding through squash patches on flying black whales. It looks like little Lars was just another ordinary child.
