Media For Lunch: Alive In Joburg by Neill Blomkamp (2005)

Neill Blomkamp was born in Johannesburg (Joburg), South Africa but immigrated to Vancouver, Canada when he was eighteen years old and later ended up working as a 3D animator in America. His life changed after making a short film titled Alive In Joburg, which impressed The Lord Of The Rings director Peter Jackson so much that Blomkamp was invited to turn his short into a feature film. The result was the critically acclaimed District 9. Blomkamp’s next feature Elysium is set to open this summer on August 13 starring Matt Damon and Jodi Foster.
