The Lower East Side in its raw, early ’80s, glory is captured by director Susan Seidelman, who later went on to direct Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan. The film follows a self-centered girl from New Jersey who moves to New York City to join the punk rock scene. Smthereens is on the big screen with a new 35mm print for one week at the Metrograph, July 29 – August 4. Seidelman will be in attendance on July 29 at 7:00pm.
